Registries on Biologics in CRSwNP: What is the role and when should we use?
Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses that is associated with bothersome nasal symptoms like loss of smell, headache, and nasal obstruction.
Most patients with CRSwNP show evidence of type 2 airway inflammation, with often co-existing asthma and as a result of the shared type 2 inflammatory pathway, the prevalence of co-morbid asthma is reported to be up to 65% (much higher than the prevalence in the general population).
Joining us is Dr Eugenio De Corso, an ENT Specialist at the Institute of Otorhinolaryngology at Gemelli University Hospital Foundation in Rome, Italy, and we’ll be asking:
- What value do biologics bring in the treatment of CRSwNP?
- What caveats are there to their use in these patients?
- What role do registries play in managing the disease?
- Do they help to improve patient care?
