How should AIT be positioned in the current treatment algorithms for Allergic Rhinitis?

ARIA Masterclass Brussels 2018

Experts support the idea of having the AIT/Allergen Immunotherapy being used for patients who are defined as sensitive to a particular allergen exposed to that allergen and are not controlled by pharmacotherapy. Immunotherapy is known to be the only treatment option for patients with allergic diseases. AIT can be positioned very early in this treatment algorithm due to the modification properties of this disease. Experts see AIT as the preventive treatment, to prevent the development of deterioration of the symptoms and also sensitisation to other allergens than the initial ones that caused the disease.

These interviews with Prof. Glenis Scadding (UK), Prof. Dr Oliver Pfaar (Germany) and Prof. Dr Marek Jutel (Poland) were recorded during the ARIA masterclass on 12 September 2018 in Brussels, Belgium.
